Generous donations to East Surrey Hospital Charity have funded beautiful enhancements to improve the diagnostic waiting areas in the Radiology department at East Surrey Hospital.

The waiting rooms in diagnostic unit were previously plain spaces. For many people, these areas are where they spend anxious minutes – or sometimes longer – before undergoing scans and tests. The team wanted to create environments that would help patients feel calmer, safer, and more comfortable, similar to improvements made in other parts of the hospital such as the Children's Day Procedures Unit and the Neonatal Unit.

Working with Grosvenor Interiors, a locally based design company with experience in healthcare environments, the team introduced new wall coverings and interior designs. Care was taken to update all waiting areas. The aim was simple: to create welcoming, modern spaces that are more pleasant to spend time in and that support patients’ experience in the Diagnostic Imaging service.

Patients come to the diagnostic imaging unit seven days a week – across all ages. Many need to attend regularly for repeat imaging. The new environment is designed with every patient in mind, with artwork and colours chosen specifically to reduce anxiety and to provide people with something positive to focus on while waiting.
These changes also benefit visitors and the staff who work in the department every day, improving the overall environment.

This project shows the direct impact of charitable donations. Because of the generosity of local supporters, an idea from staff at East Surrey Hospital has become a reality that will benefit thousands of patients every year. You can see your contributions at work in a very real and visible way enhancing the overall feeling of the waiting areas.
By setting up a monthly gift, you can ensure that more ideas from staff, big or small, become reality for patients and families.
Please consider setting up a monthly donation today. Even a small regular gift makes a lasting difference.
To everyone who fundraises, donates, or supports our work, thank you. Your generosity has created an improvement that patients and families will experience every day.
