Local lady runs for SASH Charity

Danielle (Dani) Jones (27) from Caterham (Surrey), completed the Eastbourne Half Marathon last weekend (Sunday 4 March 2018) to raise funds for SASH Charity as a thank you for the care her best friend Nikki Woodman has received at East Surrey Hospital, run by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

Nikki (26) from Coulsdon was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in May 2017, with a tumour around her heart and lungs.

Dani said: “When I said I would run the half marathon I asked Nikki if she would choose a charity that meant something to her and she said SASH Charity because she received such amazing support, encouragement and care throughout her cancer treatment at East Surrey Hospital.

“This was the first half-marathon I have run and I am delighted to have completed it in such a good time for Nikki, after her incredible journey, she is now in remission and recovering at home from a stem cell transplant – I am pleased that I could do something to say thank you to the people that have cared for her.”

Dani completed the run in 2 hours 11 minutes and raised a total of £278.

Emily Brown, fundraising manager for SASH Charity said: “Our thanks go to Dani for all her hard work training and fundraising. Her support of SASH Charity will mean that SASH is able to help many more patients like Nikki.”
