A group of ladies from Reigate and Banstead Borough Council have generously donated 20 handmade comfort blankets for patients living with dementia at East Surrey Hospital.
The blankets are all unique and they have been designed to provide visual and tactile stimulation for patients.
Maggie, who organised the project said: “We all really enjoyed making the blankets and think it’s such a worthwhile thing to do. We’re hoping to make some more next year as well.”
Chris O’Connor, nurse consultant for dementia and older people said “We are extremely grateful to Maggie, Helen and their colleagues for taking the time to make these blankets for our patients. The comfort blankets will be really beneficial to patients living with dementia, who often have restless hands and like to have something to keep them occupied.”
